Spring Dreams

During Black History month most everyone acts interested and engaged in understanding how to be an ally. We can all try the other 11 months to admit to a system that was designed and then built upon to keep BIPoC folks out of positions of influence and power. We can all work to exam our inherent bias to improve the culture that took years to imbed. We can try to remember that the privilege of being White or the privilege of our proximity to Whiteness are part of any success we enjoy. We can leave space for those that have been historically left out. If your hand is up and or out every time then you are taking up too much space. As you do so you grow more confident, more successful, more known in whatever it is you are doing and in so continue the same systems you claim to understand are inequitable. If you need to ask BIPoC folks how to improve the systems that have and still deny them you need to pay them.
